The airport is positioned extremely close for the M4 and M25 motorways, so these can get you generally anywhere you will need to go. Driving in the Terminal buildings:

Terminals 1, 2 & 3 are situated in the same Central Terminal Area. From here simply head north where you'll go through a tunnel underneath the northern runway and on the other side you'll head north along the M4. Continue for 1.5 kms and turn left on the M4 westbound. Continue here.

Terminal 4 is positioned in the south-east corner with the airport, so you will be looking to head directly for the M25. Head south out of your car or truck park and then turn left (west) onto the Southern Perimeter Road. Continue on through 3 roundabouts as you join the Airport Way which goes on to merge with the M25. Terminal 5 is located in the western edge from the airport, so you'll be aiming to head directly for the M25. Exiting the car park will get you onto a roundabout where you will take the western exit which is definitely the on ramp for the M25. Here you can head north, west, south and east as described here.

If you've left your automobile in one with the Long Term Car or truck Parks.

Terminals 1, two, 3 & 4 share a common Long Term Car Park which is positioned in the north-east corner of the airport. When you are driving out from this vehicle park you will need to head north on Cranford Lane and turn left onto the A4/Bath Road. After about 2kms you will pass over the M4 which comes out of a tunnel, you will need to join this road. To do this you will travel another half kilometre or so down the road and turn left, and left again at Newbury Road to have onto the W Ramp which joins up with the Tunnel Road you saw earlier and heads north along the M4. Continue for 1.5 kms and turn left on the M4 westbound. Continue here.

If you're coming out in the Terminal 5 Long Term Vehicle Park, you can turn left, east, along the Northern Perimeter Road towards Northolt Road and continue on Nelson Road. This road will continue and become the W Ramp which joins up with the Tunnel Road and allows you to head north along the M4. Continue for 1.5 kms and turn left on the M4 westbound. Continue here.

Once you are on the M4 heading west

From here you'll have options to go in any direction:

To go West: Keep heading west on the M4. This may be the main road to Wales and such cities as Reading, Swindon, Bristol, Newport, Cardiff, Port Talbot, Swansea and Llanelli.

To go North: At junction 4b, exit toward Watford/Oxford/M1/M40 which should merge with the M25 Northbound. The M1 is the main northern route up through England and serves such destinations as Luton, Milton Keynes, Northampton, Leicester, Nottingham, Derby, Sheffield, Wakefield, Leeds. It meets up with the M6 which in turn heads for Liverpool, Manchester and Scotland.

To go South: Exit towards M3/M23 which should merge with the M25 southbound. This will take towards Gatwick Airport and the M27 which will be the main southbound motorway. It can take you to Cadnam, Romsey, Southampton, Fareham and it ends at Portsmouth.

To go East: You will have to go southbound on the M25 and drive the whole way round the orbital where you can join the M2 (for Maidstone) or the M20 (for Folkestone and the Channel Tunnel) which are both eastbound. 

Once you are on the M25

From here you will have options to go in any direction:
