Yes, you read that right. I get excited about charcoal. Everything is loved by me about charcoal: its surface, the smell of it when it's burning, and the way that charcoal makes my food smell before I eat it. The reality is that I love charcoal because it suggests grilling, and grilling is certainly one of my absolute favorite things you can do.

Some say that men like to grill, but I'm yet to generally meet many men (although I have met a couple of) who share my great passion for the grill. A lot of people I am aware have switched to gas grills. Because I love working with charcoal so much I have refused. As an old grill that needs charcoal the same results does not be just produced by a gas grill. Therefore, much to my wife's dismay, I am caught in the past where cooking food just right is a matter of utilising the appropriate level of charcoal and then heating it just right.

I have received a countless number of pictures, cards and gag gifts mocking my love for charcoal. I don't mind it, actually, because it means that I have gotten my point across successfully: I love charcoal and I believe that there is no better way to grill.
