− | <div class="body "><p>Bullets and shells were ?hammering into the ?armour plating around his cockpit.</p><p>One engine of his helicopter had ?already been shot out as he landed amid the hell of a Taliban ambush on a mission to rescue trapped comrades.</p><p>RAF pilot Chris Gordon had a split second to make a life-or-death ?decision.</p><p>He bravely stayed to evacuate the 30 soldiers who would otherwise have been sitting ducks for the Taliban.</p><p>He knew he and his crew could get away quickly on his one remaining engine if he abandoned his mission.</p><p>The brave flight lieutenant made his choice – and beckoned the soldiers, one wounded, on board,cheap ghd straighteners. I did a 180-degree turn and came in to land. Then I heard the sound of metal on metal and a huge dust cloud kicked up,louboutins. There was incoming from all sides.”</p><p>Shortly after Chris, 29, from Manchester,christian louboutin shoes, landed the Chinook rounds from a Taliban AK-47 destroyed some of its wiring and knocking out one engine.</p><p>He says: “I knew I could get the aircraft out with no one on board. One who had been shot in the leg was strapped in by the crew as the others boarded under heavy fire.</p><p>Chris, who was helped by ?Flying Officer ?Matthew Smyth, said: “I thought, ‘I can pull this off the ground.’ If I hadn’t they would have had to stay there under fire. I was looking at the flight information and outside the dust was really heavy so I couldn’t see much.</p><p>“But I could hear rounds thudding into the armour plating and my blades were hit. When they were all on board I pulled the Chinook to the max and started to pull off the ground over the fields. I knew I couldn’t overcook the engine and had to be careful.”</p><p>Chris had to fly dangerously low to get maximum possible speed, but he got the soldiers from 1 Royal Irish back to the safety of Camp Bastion,christian louboutin uk.</p><p>“We had a heavy landing because I only had the one engine so I had to come in like a plane and land on the rear wheels,” said Chris,burberry, of Manchester,christian louboutin uk.</p><p>“But that was the least of anyone’s worries.
